Associate Director, Transformation Practice

$280k - $300k package inclusive of super + bonus

Talenza has been retained to appoint an Associate Director, Transformation Practice for a large Australian organisation undertaking the next phase of its enterprise transformation journey.

This is a rare opportunity to shape and mature the organisational capabilities that enable successful transformation at scale.

Unlike many transformation leadership positions, this role is not accountable for the delivery of programs or projects. Instead, it focuses on improving the systems, practices, governance, leadership capability and operating models that enable transformation to be delivered effectively across the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Transformation, you will lead a multidisciplinary function focused on strengthening transformation capability, improving organisational effectiveness and helping the business continuously evolve how it delivers change.

The organisation has established strong foundations and is now entering its next phase of maturity. This role will be instrumental in helping leaders, teams and delivery functions operate more effectively as the organisation continues to evolve.

The Opportunity

This role will suit an experienced transformation leader who enjoys improving how organisations deliver change rather than directly owning delivery outcomes.

You will work across senior leadership teams, transformation functions and delivery communities to improve organisational capability, strengthen transformation practices and ensure the business is equipped to deliver strategic outcomes in an increasingly complex environment.

Success in this role will come through influencing, coaching, designing and enabling rather than directing program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team focused on strengthening enterprise transformation capability and organisational effectiveness.
  • Partner with senior leaders to improve how transformation is planned, governed and executed across the organisation.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance organisational performance by strengthening transformation practices and delivery capability.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of operating models, ways of working and organisational structures.
  • Coach and influence leaders through periods of organisational change and transformation.
  • Establish and evolve frameworks, approaches and practices that improve transformation outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and learning across transformation and delivery communities.

You

We are seeking candidates who bring a combination of enterprise transformation experience, leadership capability and practical knowledge of how large organisations mature their transformation functions over time.

This role is ideally suited to someone who has helped organisations move beyond isolated programs of work and build sustainable, enterprise-wide transformation capability.

Key Selection Criteria

Transformation Practice Leadership

  • Demonstrated experience building, leading or maturing a transformation, delivery excellence, enterprise agility or organisational effectiveness function.
  • Experience establishing sustainable practices that improve an organisation's ability to execute strategic change.

Agile & Operating Model Maturity

  • Deep understanding of modern operating models and how organisations evolve their approaches to planning, prioritisation and delivery.
  • Experience helping large organisations mature their agility and ways of working over multiple years.
  • Able to articulate what works, what doesn't, and the lessons learned from operating model transformation initiatives.

Enterprise Leadership & Influence

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at executive and senior leadership levels.
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence with the ability to challenge constructively while maintaining strong relationships.

Organisational Effectiveness

  • Experience supporting organisational design, leadership capability and enterprise-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of how structure, governance, culture and capability contribute to successful transformation outcomes.

Transformation & Delivery Experience

  • Background in enterprise transformation, consulting, business change, delivery leadership or organisational effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of the practical challenges organisations face when delivering change at scale.

Systems Thinking

  • Ability to view transformation from an enterprise perspective rather than through an individual project or programme lens.
  • Understands how leadership, culture, governance, capability and delivery practices combine to influence organisational performance.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to influence transformation at enterprise scale.
  • Highly visible leadership role with significant executive engagement.
  • Shape the future direction of a mature and evolving transformation function.
  • Strong organisational commitment to capability development and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative and supportive leadership environment.
  • Hybrid working model based in Melbourne (Sydney considered)
