Description

Talenza have been engaged by an Australian financial services organisation to find a Linux Application Support Engineer to work across a greenfield transformation program of work. The successful candidate will be an experienced in supporting a complex enterprise environment.

This role requires 3 days per week in the Brisbane CBD office and is only open to candidates currently based in Brisbane with full working rights.

Key Requirements

  • 3-5+ years' experience in Application Support, Production Support, or Systems Administration roles supporting business-critical enterprise applications within a 24x7 operational environment.

  • Strong experience providing Level 1 and Level 2 application support, including incident management, troubleshooting, monitoring, and coordinating with vendors and technical teams to restore service and resolve issues.

  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or other regulated environments, with an understanding of the importance of system availability, SLAs, change control, and operational risk management.

  • Working knowledge of Linux environments (ideally Red Hat), including basic system administration, log analysis, service management, and operational support activities.

  • Experience with basic scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python to support operational processes, monitoring, and routine administration tasks.

  • Familiarity with databases and enterprise application environments, including the ability to perform basic support, investigation, and troubleshooting activities using DBMS tools.

  • Exposure to cloud-based environments, particularly AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and S3, together with experience working within ITIL/service management frameworks, change-controlled environments, and participation in an on-call roster supporting 24x7 business operations.
