Role: Integration Engineer
Daily Rate: $900 - $1000 + Super
Contract Length: Initial contract until 18 Dec 2026
Location: Macquarie Park/WFH Hybrid

We're partnering with a large, complex organisation delivering a transformation program. You will be responsible for building and maintaining FastAPI-based integration services that enable secure, scalable, and event-driven data exchange across student, learning, identity, and enterprise platforms. This role suits an engineer who is confident owning API design, development, and runtime performance in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain FastAPI services as the primary integration layer

  • Develop System, Process, and Experience APIs using OpenAPI standards

  • Build event-driven and asynchronous integrations using Kafka and Apache Airflow

  • Implement robust authentication and security (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML)

  • Perform complex data transformation and mapping in Python (JSON/XML)

  • Integrate with Salesforce APIs including REST, Bulk, Streaming, and Platform Events

  • Implement error handling, retries, idempotency, and transaction control

  • Deploy and operate services using containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Contribute to integration and API governance standards

Core Technical Skills (Essential)

  • Strong, hands-on FastAPI experience in production environments

  • Advanced Python development for API and integration workloads

  • API-led integration architecture and lifecycle management

  • OpenAPI / REST (SOAP exposure beneficial)

  • Messaging and async processing (Kafka or equivalent)

  • CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)

  • Containerisation and Kubernetes

Desirable Experience

  • Salesforce Education Data Architecture (EDA) or Education Cloud

  • Platform Events, CDC, or Pub/Sub APIs

  • Integration with Student Management Systems or LMS platforms

  • Centralised logging and monitoring (Splunk, CloudWatch, etc.)

  • Experience working within regulated or data-sensitive environments
